The registration cost for governors and future leaders attending the 2017 Symposium is $210 per person. Attendees are also able to register for the following optional activities:
 
  • Thursday 7th September, 5.45pm: Attend the meeting of the Rotary Club of St Johns at the Remuera Golf Club, 120 Abbotts Way, Remuera. The cost to attend the club meeting is $25 per person.
 
  • Friday 8th September: A visit to Motuihe Island to view a project of the Rotary Club of Westhaven. The club’s association with Motuihe Island started in 2005 as a centennial project in Rotary’s 100th year, under then President Gary Ardern.  Gary and Carol Ardern were volunteers involved with the restoration of Tiritiri Matangi Island in the Hauraki Gulf and once that project was completed they turned their attention to Motuihe Island. The Motuihe Restoration Trust was established in 2000 and in 2005 the last of the cattle were removed and the island was declared pest free.  Since then, little brown western kiwi, saddleback, kakariki, stitchbirds, tuatara and pacific gecko have been translocated to or settled on the island.  The club adopted an area on one of the island’s walking tracks which they have cleared and planted and it has become known amongst the Motuihe volunteers as “Rotary Lookout”.  The club plans to put some seats in the area and it is currently progressing this with the Motuihe Restoration Trust.  http://www.motuihe.org.nz/
     
    The bus leaves Waipuna at 9.30am and travels to Orakei Marina where you will board a vessel for a trip down the harbour to Motuihe Island. The cost for this activity is $35 per person  which includes a paper bag lunch. Morning tea will also be available on board the boat for a $2 donation. The return boat trip and bus trip should see you back at Waipuna by mid-afternoon.  Further information on the Motuihe Island project can be found here.
 
  • Friday 8th September, 5.30pm – 6.30pm: The Friday buffet meal in the Wellington’s Restaurant at Waipuna is optional and bookings are essential as space is limited. Diners must be seated by 5.45pm. The cost for the dinner is $35 per person.
 
  • Saturday 9th September, 7.15pm: The separately bookable Symposium Dinner on Saturday night will be held at the Waipuna Hotel. Past District Governors will be seated in their year groups. The cost is $75 per person.
